Have you ever scanned a classical Chinese book?
A right-bound volume reads from right to left, so feeding it into the scanner in order gives you a file that comes out backwards.
The last leaf ends up as page 1.

The same thing happens when a sheet feeder pulls pages from the back.
The scan itself is fine — only the order is flipped — so there’s no reason to scan it again.

This tool turns the whole page order around and saves it as a new PDF.

How to Use

Basic Steps

  1. Drag a PDF file in or click to upload it.
  2. Check the result in the preview.
  3. Click [Reverse Page Order].
  4. {original}_reversed.pdf downloads automatically.

The original file is untouched — a new file is created.
Even if you dislike the result the original is still there, so feel free to try.

How the Reversal Works

Simple. The first and last sheets swap places.

  • Page 1 of the original → the last page of the result
  • The last page of the original → page 1 of the result

In general, page N of the original moves to position (total pages − N + 1).
In a 100-page file, original page 3 becomes result page 98.

Reading the Preview

The preview here is a little unusual. It shows two sides at once.

  • The left is that position in the original, the right is the same position in the result.
  • In other words, “what was at slot 5, and what lands at slot 5 after reversing.”

Showing pages one at a time makes it hard to sense whether the order actually flipped.
Placing the same slot side by side tells you at a glance that it worked.
Use ◀◀ ◀ ▶ ▶▶ to check other slots.

Good to Know

Quality Does Not Degrade

Only the page order changes, so text, images, and fonts are preserved exactly.
Nothing is re-encoded and no image is regenerated, so there is no quality loss.
Scans are already images, and if quality dropped during a re-save you’d have to track down the original again. That doesn’t happen here.

The File Size Stays About the Same

Inside a PDF, resources like fonts and images are often shared across many pages.
Copy pages one by one along with their resources and the same font ends up embedded hundreds of times, inflating the file several times over.

So shared resources are copied once and the pages reference them together.
That keeps the resulting file nearly the same size as the original.

Progress Is Shown

Files with hundreds of pages take a while.
With no indicator you can’t tell whether it froze or is still working, so the current page is reported in real time.

Notes

  • PDFs with an edit-restriction password cannot be converted. The work changes the page structure, so the password has to be removed first.
  • Large files may take a long time.
  • All processing happens in the browser and no file is sent to a server.

Pairs Well With

When cleaning up scans, this is often used together with the PDF Left-Right Splitter.
For a right-bound book scanned as open spreads, the easier order is split left and right first, then reverse.
